Praised as “an artist of affecting humility and beautiful tone production” by The Strad magazine, Dan Zhu is performing internationally in North America, Europe, and Asia. Critics have raved about his recent triumphant performance with the Boston Symphony at the Tanglewood Festival as "truly brilliant, compelling, and polished.” He has appeared with world class orchestras under the direction of Maestros Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Philippe Entremont, Jacek Kaspszyk, and Long Yu among many others, and has been invited to perform and give master classes at renowned festivals, including Salzburg, Tanglewood, Verbier, Marlboro, Ravinia, and Spoleto.

Dan Zhu’s recent seasons included concerto appearances with the National Symphony Orchestra at Kennedy Center and the Prague Symphony for the 70th anniversary of UNESCO in Paris, in the Lincoln Center series in New York and the “World New Year’s Gala” in Beijing, and a recital at the Verbier Festival and a special performance for the state visit of China in Washington, D.C. His very active concert schedule has also included solo performances with symphony orchestras in Boston, Belgrade, Hong Kong, Munich, Paris, and Vancouver. Mr. Zhu has performed a series of recitals with Christoph Eschenbach of Mozart and Beethoven sonatas at the Kennedy Center and the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing. He has also collaborated in recitals and chamber music performances with pianists such as Lang Lang, Richard Goode, KunWoo Paik, Philippe Entremont, Jean-Yves Thibaudet,and Peter Frankl, as well as violinist Joshua Bell, and cellists Gary Hoffman and Mischa Maisky.

A native of Beijing, Zhu made his first public appearance at the age of nine with the China Youth Chamber Orchestra. He entered the Central Conservatory in Beijing when he was twelve years old, wherehe studied with Xiaozhi Huang. He made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Tchaikovsky violin concerto atthe age of eighteen. Dan Zhu has appeared on several international labels, such as Cascavelle, CPO, Naxos, and ORF. Dan Zhu has collaborated with leading composers of our time, including Tan Dun, Bright Sheng, George Benjamin, Gyorgy Kurtag, Krzysztof Penderecki, the late Gian-Carlo Menotti, Wolfgang Rihm, Xiaogang Ye, and Guan Xia. In environmental protection, Zhu’s passionate involvement with the Antarctica Forum has led him to be the first violinist in history to perform in Antarctica in 2013.
