Melissa Bohl is the principal oboist of the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also served as the principal oboist for the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra, and the American Repertory Ballet Orchestra, and was a member of the Louisville Orchestra. Ms. Bohl received her degrees in music from the Eastman School of Music, the University of Notre Dame, and Princeton University. She has studied oboe with Ray Still, Robert Sprenkle, and Jerry Sirucek, and has performed in master classes for Richard Woodhams, James Caldwell, and Marcel Moyse. Ms. Bohl is the head of the wind department at the Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ. She has taught oboe, music history, and music theory at Rider University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Notre Dame. As a former member of the New Arts Ensemble and the Fiati Chamber Players, she has performed in Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and the Philips Collection in Washington, D.C.
Ellen Fisher-Deerberg is the principal flutist of the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a graduate of Temple University, where she studied with Murray Panitz, former principal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. A well-known artist in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey, Ms. Fisher-Deerberg has performed in a variety of instrumental ensembles from the classic to the eclectic. Her performances with the University of Delaware faculty member Christiaan Taggart on classical guitar have received standing ovations, as did her recent performance of Leonard Bernstein selections with renowned pianist and teacher, Dr. Chiu-Ling Lin. Ellen’s diverse ensemble experience includes performances with harp, viola, percussion, multiple flutes, various woodwinds, Native American flutes, and Chinese Guzheng. She is a member of the Volanti Flute Quartet, which has performed to enthusiastic audiences throughout central New Jersey. Ms. Fisher-Deerberg’s students have won top prizes in the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia competition, and have performed in the regional and all-state bands in the tri-state area. She is a faculty member with the Bryn Mawr Conservatory and Westminster Conservatory. As a recording artist, Ellen can be heard in collaboration with flutist Lisamarie McGrath on the CD “The Colors Fall.”
